Comply with

How to use "comply with" correctly

This is an entry on my list of Common Errors in English Usage. Visit the main page for direct links to additional entries.

To comply means “to go along” with wishes, demands, requirements, requests, etc. When it takes an object, it is followed by the preposition with; other prepositions are unidiomatic:

comply to your request

comply with your request
