Camilla’s English Page:

A Free Resource for Students and Teachers of English

Welcome to Camilla’s English Page, a bastion of light, literature, and Standard English in the benighted and grammatically challenged world of the Internet.* The materials featured here are things I have written and compiled during my twenty years of experience as an English tutor working with adult, college, high school, and middle school students on everything from standardized test preparation to literary analysis, essay writing, and college admissions. I hope you will find them useful.

This website was established on August 5, 2010, and will remain under construction indefinitely. As I have time to expand the site, I plan to add not only many more of my own teaching materials, but also more useful Quizlet lists to facilitate studying, links to helpful resources I’ve found over the years, and even audio files—readings of vocabulary lists, literature excerpts, and poems.

What You Have Gotten Yourself Into

See my Mission Statement page for an explanation of the origin and purposes of this site. One of its main purposes is to provide helpful resources to students who are not able to afford a private tutor and to overworked schoolteachers who may find them useful in planning lessons, not to people (or companies) whose main goal is to make money, so I request that the copyrighted proprietary materials featured on this site not be used for commercial purposes.

Please note that some of the material on this site deals with mature themes and content. Literature cannot shy away from confronting the ugly, uncomfortable, and painful aspects of life if it is to truly help us understand ourselves and others. Some of those ugly and painful aspects of life involve grammar errors, which also must be confronted if we are to become better writers.

Note also that some of the material on this site is just plain goofy. Depending on what I’m writing, my mood, and how late at night it is, I might decide to include a bunch of example sentences about the Justice League Prom or Skeeter and Jimbob’s mullet competition. I hope that at least some of you find that stuff as amusing as I do when I’m writing it, but even if it fails as entertainment, you can still learn something from it.

Navigating This Site

Every page on this site is at most two clicks away from any other page. The main navigation menu above includes all of the major sections of the site. The Quick Links menu on this page includes links to some of the major learning resources featured here as well as a sitemap, where you can find a list of all of the pages. The search feature in the navigation menu (click on the magnifying glass icon) is also quite useful.

Camilla’s English Page has no paid advertisements and has not been monetized in any way, so it is free of annoying ads, pop-ups, and other junk. I’ve tried to keep the design clean and simple so that it’s easy to use. There are a few people and organizations I’ve chosen to link to, but only because I like them, not because they’ve paid me to advertise here.

If you have any questions, requests, or suggestions, feel free to contact me by e-mail here, or use the contact form on this page. As you’ve probably guessed if you can see the header photos above, I’m not Camilla; I’m her father. Thanks for visiting our site!
